Our Story

The Hallmark of Quality Luxurious Flowers Since 1937

We think we are the best florist in Christchurch!

Since 1937, Court Florist has traded in Christchurch, making it an iconic retail brand and one of the city’s foremost florists. Originally located in Hereford Court off Hereford Street, the business was founded by local florist Mr Hopkins, who along with the support of his wife, traded successfully there for the next 40 years.

In 1973, Court Florist was acquired by Lee Craddock who ran it for 15 years before restaurant entrepreneur, Doris Gräbner took ownership in 1988.

Doris operated Court Florist for the next 26 years from a number of central city sites, including Whitcoulls & The Shades Arcade, Christchurch Arts Centre, and following the 2011 earthquake from its current location on Victoria Street. Through her inspiration and talent, she built the shop into the modern and successful business that exists today.

Court Florist’s most recent owner, Tracey Tyler, is expanding on the store’s reputation of providing high quality modern and creative arrangements to our discerning and loyal customers. Along with a talented and experienced team led by store manager and senior florist Kristine Durie, Court Florist will continue to be Christchurch’s leading floral, bouquet and gift destination for many years to come.
